Why We Use FDM 3D Printing for Tabletop Terrain

About This Set

This physical terrain bundle is produced from three models taken from a larger Txarli Factory terrain collection. It includes the main fortified tower and two matching broken wall sections, selected by Mighty Melee Games to create a compact scenario terrain set.

In the Reclaim the Tower scenario, two armies of up to 750 points battle to occupy an abandoned tower and claim its shelter for themselves. Securing the tower at the end of the battle awards 100 bonus victory points—but the first warriors to enter may discover that it is not entirely deserted.

The Txarli Factory tower provides a suitably imposing centrepiece for the scenario. It features detailed stonework, battlements, boarded doors, narrow windows and a playable rooftop. The two separate ruined wall sections can be positioned alongside it to form a larger fortified ruin or spread across the battlefield as independent obstacles.

Material & Finish

These pieces are printed in PLA, a durable material well suited to gaming terrain. While PLA offers slightly softer detail than resin, it is considerably more durable during regular play, making it ideal for terrain that is handled, stored and used week in, week out.

Our standard print setting is 0.25mm (250-micron) layer height, providing an excellent balance of detail, durability and cost. This is the same specification used for terrain at our gaming venue and has been proven through regular play.

Heavy-duty 0.6mm nozzle printing: Printed using 0.6mm nozzles rather than standard 0.4mm nozzles or brittle resin. This produces strong, durable terrain designed to withstand the demands of regular club, home and event gaming.

Due to the FDM printing process, layer lines and small surface variations may be visible. These are normal characteristics of 3D printed terrain and are not considered defects.
