Warhammer 40,000 11th Edition RTT #1 – First Blood!
Share
There's always a bit of uncertainty when a new edition lands. New missions, new rules, new interactions... and the inevitable question: "How many FAQs are we going to need?"
After our first Warhammer 40,000 11th Edition RTT, the answer seems to be... not many.
The day was a cracking success. Games flowed well, players got stuck into the new mission pack and, perhaps most tellingly, Marcus spent far less time making rules calls than anyone expected. There were a few wrinkles—as you'd expect with a brand-new edition—but the overwhelming feeling from everyone in the room was that 11th Edition has got off to a very strong start.
Players travelled from across Cheshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire and beyond, and if the first RTT and the last fortnight of league games are anything to go by, Games Workshop have landed this one.
Final Standings
🥇 1st: Mark Anderson (Tau Empire)
🥈 2nd: James Dodd (Space Wolves)
🥉 3rd: Alex Birns (Orks)
Congratulations to all three players for battling through a competitive field.
Award Winners
🤝 Most Sporting
Will Loveridge
A pleasure to play against all day and a thoroughly deserved winner of the Sportsmanship Award.
😎 Coolest Army
Chris Horsley and his brilliantly themed Fallout-inspired Genestealer Cultists.
A fantastic concept that looked superb on the table and drew plenty of admiration throughout the day.
🎨 Best Painted
Ben Robinson and his stunning Leagues of Votann.

The standard of painting at MMG keeps getting higher, and Ben's Leagues of Votann deservedly took home the Best Painted award.
Wooden Axe
As if winning Best Painted wasn't enough, Ben Robinson also had the honour of taking home the coveted MMG Wooden Axe.
Some people simply refuse to leave without collecting as many trophies as possible...
What People Thought
"11th feels really clean. We were expecting loads of questions but most games just flowed."
"The missions create loads of interesting decisions. Looking forward to seeing where the meta goes."
"Great venue, great opponents and a cracking first event for the new edition."
Thanks
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the first MMG RTT of 11th Edition such a success.
Special thanks to Marcus for refereeing. Thankfully, the new edition behaved itself well enough that he spent more time chatting with players than untangling rules disputes—which is exactly how we like it.
Our early impression after two weeks of league play and this first RTT is that 11th Edition has got off to a very strong start. Whether you're a seasoned tournament regular or looking to dip your toe into organised play for the first time, we'd love to see you at a future MMG event.
Our next Warhammer 40,000 RTT takes place on 15 August. If you've been thinking about giving organised play a go, now's the perfect time.
