Two Years at Unit 96: What Our Community Told Us
Share
Two years
at Unit 96.
In October 2024, Mighty Melee Games moved into a space built around the games and the people who play them. Two years on, we asked the community what they value about MMG and where we can improve. Here’s what you told us—and what we’re doing next.
This is a snapshot of feedback received during the week leading up to 30 September 2026. The survey attracted a limited, self-selecting sample, so the findings are a useful indication of community sentiment rather than a definitive measure of everyone who uses MMG.
What you told us.
The welcome and community stand out. The practical feedback gives us clear places to focus: terrain, opening times, the website and the hobby experience.
How the venue rated.
The bars show the percentage rating each area Good or better. “Haven’t used this” answers are excluded.
A community people recommend
100% felt very or extremely welcome; 87% chose extremely welcome. 74% had already introduced other people to MMG. The remaining 26% said they would.
Discord matters
74% use Discord regularly or consider it essential to how they use MMG.
Opening and events
52% selected more weekend opening, 23% more one-day events and 16% different weekday hours. 26% already visit as often as they want to.
Give hobby time a social purpose
71% prefer to hobby elsewhere, 13% already hobby at MMG occasionally and 16% would like to. Suggestions favoured shared painting sessions, learning techniques and trying materials.
Across the written answers, respondents repeatedly valued friendly opponents, a welcoming atmosphere, organised play and a place to meet people who share the hobby. Practical suggestions covered 40K terrain dimensions, area-footprint nubs, website navigation, refreshments, product requests, storage and comfort.
You said.
We’re acting.
Some improvements are already in place. Others are under way, or need more planning before we can confirm them.
Earlier weekday opening
From 28 September, our Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday sessions run from 5:30pm to 10pm, following requests for an earlier start.
40K terrain corrections
Redundant pieces have been removed. As of 30 September, 32 of 40 replacement Large L pieces have been printed. All tables will be updated before our October 40K RTT. Next are templates with nubs for the neoprene area footprints, followed by a review of the wider 40K terrain.
Weekend access
The survey asked about Saturday opening from January 2027, 10am–4pm. 55% expected to use Saturdays alongside evenings, 23% occasionally and 6% mainly instead of evenings. Six per cent were unsure and 10% unlikely to visit. We’ll confirm the arrangements and activities before launch.
The next improvements
Website navigation, hobby sessions, social and narrative gaming, refreshments, product requests and storage are useful suggestions for the next review. These are ideas to assess rather than confirmed changes.
From shop to
gathering place.
A gaming venue works because people keep turning up: to roll dice, learn a system, compete, paint and spend an evening with friends.
The first shop
MMG opened on Market Drayton High Street in June, bringing tabletop games and a growing community together.
Unit 96 opens
On 2 October, MMG opened its dedicated gaming venue at Tern Valley Business Park, with room for larger games and organised events.
Two years on
Regular gaming evenings, leagues, tournaments and hobby conversations have made Unit 96 a home for players across the area.
Room to play.
Ten full-size gaming tables, terrain made in-house and evening sessions long enough to finish a proper game. There’s space for your models, your opponent and the conversation around the table.
There’s a place
at the table.
Unit 96 keeps changing with the people who use it. If you’ve played here, thank you for being part of the story. If you haven’t, come and see what an evening at MMG feels like.
